Club Racing

Are you ready to take that step from watching road racing to getting behind the wheel? It's not an easy process, but SCCA has produced more road racers than anyone, so you're in good hands.

Club Racing is where people are mostly racing on their own nickel.

2008 FLR Races:

TIME TRIALS:
In your street car or your ready-to-run racer, it doesn’t matter, you want to race. SCCA wants to get you on the track! You supply your end of the bargain by showing up in your car, and through the four-step SCCA Time Trials program, we’ll supply ours. The SCCA provides something for everyone. The Time Trials program is designed to accommodate all types of cars - from street cars in the first-level, instructional Performance Driving Experience (PDX) events to fully-prepared race vehicles in the third-level Track Trial and fourth-level Hill Climb formats, so no matter where you are as a driver, each of the four levels of the Time Trials will challenge you by meeting you at your skill level.

ROAD RACING:
This road racing competition occurs at the more casual Regional level, and the more serious National level. In the former, the goal is often a regional championship based on a season of points events; in the latter, the goal is usually an invitation to the Runoffs®, which will be held in the fall at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas. Formerly this event has been held at Mid-Ohio, Road Atlanta and other road courses in the United States.

Upon completion of two Driver Schools and two Regional Races on your Novice Permit, you are eligible to receive an SCCA Regional Competition License. You have two years from the date of issue to complete the Novice requirements. Once the requirements are met, send your completed Novice Permit, signed off by the event Chief Steward at your second Regional race; a copy of your Physical Exam; and $75 to the Central Licensing Department. You will soon be the proud owner of a Regional Competition License.

After successfully completing four Regional events, you may upgrade to a National Competition License.

Events included under the umbrella of SCCA Club Racing include:

Competitors in Club Racing must be SCCA Members and have appropriate Competition Licenses (see "Go Racing" on SCCA.com)..
