Congratulations to overall winners Mike Friedman and Marc Goldfarb for earning just 18 points for the 14 scored controls. Equally impressive were the scores of Novice Class winners Cory Kuhns and first time navigator Jake Massey - 227 points; and Stock class champs Scott Grinnell & Jamie Hayslip with just 105 points. Limited Class winners Karl Haltiner & Mac McCann, had just 36 points. These outstanding performances came on a night when weather conditions went from blowing snow on clear roads, to slippery snow - covered roads and more falling snow. The roads were very slick, as can be verified by the several teams with off-road excursions. Fortunately, no one was injured and all cars made it home under their own power. Seventeen teams started, and 16 completed the route, comprising 15 controls over four counties. One control was discarded due to a mileage "glitch" which made re-calculation impossible. Contestants reported they were very pleased with the route selected by Rallymaster Rick Barnes, assisted by his rally partner Jason Kostyshak Thanks to all the workers who made the event possible: Bob and Kara Van Sice (3 controls); Barbara Lissow & Steve Kittelberger (nice to see you again); John Walsh & Rich Smith; Larry Wells, John & Sharayah Werner; Carl (control & pre-check) & Chip Dresie; Mike Brunner & Lynn Randall; Dan Glueck & WIlliam Robertson; Gary Thomas (tech); and Bill Laitenberger. Also attached are the final Winter Series point standings. Congratulations to the 5 class champions: Ryan Lynch (N); Roy Hopkins & Adrienne Hughes (S); Rick Barnes & Jason Kostyshak (L); and Gary Thomas & Dave Cady (E). There were a record 56 Novices participating in one or more of the five events of the series. Hopefully we will see some of them again at Spring and Fall events, and all of them at next year's Winter Series.
