Avon, Geneseo & Mount Morris RallyRoadResults
Event ReportBy Rick Barnes, Rallymaster October 17 turned out to be a fine day for a fall foliage drive, and that suited running the Avon, Geneseo & Mount Morris RallyRoad just fine. The air was slightly crisp, fitting for a fall run, the sun was out and the leaves were just at their color peak. Seven teams gathered at Tom Wahl's to compete, although only one took advantage of the discount offered for registering a vintage car. The event was a photo rally - 22 photos were provided to competitors, along with tulip-style route instructions. Teams had to locate where the photos were taken along the route and identify that point within 1/10th of a mile. Competition was in two classes: Rookie and Experienced, with four entries in the former and three in the later class. First place in the Experienced class and overall went to the team of Jean Donnan and Ann Mowry, with 21 out of the 22 photo location correct. In the Rookie class, first place went to John and Lindsey Kislinger, with a score of 17 out of 22. Also at this event, the awards committee gave out a new trophy, the New Guy Award, to the best finishing team that had never previously competed in a rally. This was also earned by John and Lindsey Kislinger. Overall the event went smoothly, with nice weather, great scenery, and enjoyable roads. Special entertainment was even provided by the Livingston County Sheriff. Thanks to everyone that came out to play. Special thanks to Tom & Deb Langdon for checking the route and handling the awards. Everyone had a good time, so stayed tuned for upcoming social rallies next spring and fall. |
